Independent practice · Alder Flats

Dentistry that doesn't rush you.

We are a small, independently owned practice. Longer appointments, the same faces each visit, and a clear explanation before anything happens — including what it will cost.

What we do

Everyday dentistry, done carefully.

Most of what we do is routine, and we think that is the point. Complex work is referred when someone else can genuinely do it better.

  • Check-ups & cleaning

A full examination, scale and polish, and an honest answer about whether you need anything else.

  • Fillings & repairs

Tooth-coloured fillings, worn edges rebuilt, and chipped teeth put back in a single visit where we can.

  • Crowns & bridges

Made to fit and matched to the teeth either side, with a temporary that you can actually eat with.

  • Children's dentistry

First visits kept short and uneventful. Nothing happens without explaining it to them first, in their words.

  • Emergency appointments

Slots held back each day for pain, swelling or a broken tooth. Telephone before 10am where possible.

  • Whitening & cosmetic

Discussed honestly, including when the answer is that it will not make much difference.

New patients

Your first visit, start to finish.

It takes about forty-five minutes, and nothing is treated on the day unless you are in pain and want it dealt with.

  1. 1

    Before you arrive

We send a short form by email. Filling it in beforehand means the appointment is spent talking rather than writing.

  2. 2

    The examination

A full look at teeth, gums, bite and soft tissue, with any images we need. We talk through what we find as we go.

  3. 3

    The plan

Written, itemised, and in order of what actually matters — with costs against each item before you agree to anything.

Worth bringing with you

  • A list of any medication you take
  • Your insurance details, if you have cover
  • The name of your previous practice, so we can request records
  • Any questions — there is time for them

How we practise

We would rather explain something twice than treat something once that did not need treating.

Independent ownership is the reason we can work this way. Nobody sets us a monthly target, so there is no reason to recommend anything other than what we would want done to our own teeth.

That also means we are straightforward about doing nothing. A tooth that is being watched is a legitimate plan, and it is often the right one.

Our team

The same faces, every visit.

Fictional placeholder people, invented for this demonstration site. A real build would carry the practice's actual team and photography.

  • Dr. Naomi Alder

    General Dentist · Practice Principal

Takes the longer appointments and most of the nervous patients. Will always talk through the option of waiting.

  • Dr. Elias Fenn

    General Dentist

Does most of the crown and bridge work, and all of the Thursday evening appointments.

  • Rosa Iveson

    Dental Hygienist

Runs the hygiene appointments and the majority of children's first visits.

Insurance & payment

No surprises on the invoice.

Whatever the cover, the principle is the same: you see the cost in writing before we start, and we tell you what we think your plan will and will not pay.

Demonstration content. A real practice site would list the specific plans that practice actually accepts, and nothing it does not.

  • We will check your cover before your first appointment and tell you what it looks like it includes.
  • Every treatment plan is itemised, with the practice fee shown next to each item.
  • If a plan only covers part of something, you are told which part, before the appointment.
  • Payment plans are available for larger courses of treatment; ask at reception.
  • If you have no cover at all, the fee list is the same one everybody else gets.

If you find this difficult

A lot of people do.

Tell us when you book and it changes how the whole appointment runs. None of the following costs anything or needs a special appointment.

  • A stop signal

Agreed before we start, and honoured immediately, every time, no discussion needed.

  • An appointment just to talk

Sit in the room, meet whoever will be treating you, and leave. Nothing else happens.

  • Quiet times of day

First appointment of the morning is the quietest, and there is nobody waiting behind you.

  • Told before, not during

You hear what is about to happen before it happens, in plain words, at whatever level of detail you want.
